Wanting to change in IFS?
Wanting to change in IFS?
Where does wanting to change fit in IFS?
So far I am not satisfied with how IFS explains ‘every daylife’.
I think there are gaps. Parts left unturned. Unexplained.
IFS would say “there’s a part of you that is curious / wants to know”.
Yes, sure let’s call it that.
That doesn’t mean these parts are in a burdened protector role. Because when they are unbrunded they they still have a role. They still have a job to do. And these parts, using IFS langauge, are identifying the inconsistencies and incompleteness in the way in which the model is explained.
I will not be the only person with these questions. Therefore, someone else must also have some conclusions.
It would be good to frame up some clear questions:
What does healthy part intercaction and engagement look like?
How does IFS explain how the desire for internal changes are managed and achieved?
How does IFS explain how external changes are managed and achieved?
How does IFS explain the determination of ‘normal’ when accounting for existing social norms and structures?
To be continued as I figure more out.
