Wanting to change in IFS?

Wanting to change in IFS?

Where does wanting to change fit in IFS?

So far I am not satisfied with how IFS explains ‘every daylife’.

I think there are gaps. Parts left unturned. Unexplained.

IFS would say “there’s a part of you that is curious / wants to know”.

Yes, sure let’s call it that.

That doesn’t mean these parts are in a burdened protector role. Because when they are unbrunded they they still have a role. They still have a job to do. And these parts, using IFS langauge, are identifying the inconsistencies and incompleteness in the way in which the model is explained.

I will not be the only person with these questions. Therefore, someone else must also have some conclusions.

It would be good to frame up some clear questions:

  • What does healthy part intercaction and engagement look like?

  • How does IFS explain how the desire for internal changes are managed and achieved?

  • How does IFS explain how external changes are managed and achieved?

  • How does IFS explain the determination of ‘normal’ when accounting for existing social norms and structures?

To be continued as I figure more out.
